Today I started my walk on the north end of Colusa Ave., and walked it to it's end at Hopkins, then looped around onto Monterey Ave. to Merced St. and back to Colusa. It was a beautiful loop, and the walking was pleasant as a soft morning mist fell. Starting out on Colusa, I immediately noticed a beautiful and fragrant magnolia in full bloom. Overall, I was struck by the beautiful tree -lined avenue and the rocky outcroppings shaping the landscape.

Walking Every Street in Berkeley

Day One

This morning I embarked on a new adventure by starting a goal of walking every street, path and trail in Berkeley, California. I am a Berkeley native, just moving back to the area after two years in Minneapolis. Moving is such a great opportunity for creating new goals, and re-evaluating the way to live your life. As I embark on a hunt for work in my field of outdoor education, and start to rebuild my community ties, I feet that giving myself this goal will reconnect me to my home town. Also, the potential of inspiring people to pay attention to their surroundings and get healthy is very exciting, and I'm hoping to turn this personal project into more of a community effort.
